Rick Ross dropped his 9th studio album Rather You Than Me today and the whole album is bumping. Everyone has been talking about his shots at Nicki Minaj and Birdman. One the opening track Apple Of My Eye he confesses that he told Meek Mill not to trust his ex girlfriend Nicki. Yikes! Then on the 3rd track "Idols Become Rivals" produced by black metaphor who sampled Jay Z's classic track "Where Have You Been". Ross raps about the beef between Lil Wayne and Birdman plus the bad business of Cash Money. He even rhymes about the trouble Birdman caused Dj Khaled. The track is pure FIRE! Birdman spoke to Billboard and had this to say:
"I don't get caught up in hoe sh-t, man. I just keep doing what I'm doing and keep pushing," he continued on with "I don't get caught up in that, I don't play like that. I'm a man and I stand my ground and I do my thing. Numbers don't lie, and that's all I give a f--k about: numbers, and puttin' them up."

CLAP FOR HIM: Jay Z Set To Launch Venture Capital Fund

"But I'm just a hustler disguised as a rapper. In fact you can't fit this hustle inside of a wrapper.." Shawn Carter
According to multiple sources Rapper and Mogul Jay Z is launching a venture capital fund. Venture capital is a type of funding for a new or growing business. It usually comes from venture capital firms that specialize in building high risk financial portfolios. With venture capital, the venture capital firm gives funding to the startup company in exchange for equity in the startup.
One of his partners will be Jay Brown, a longtime business partner and president of Roc Nation. The pair also is scouring the venture market for a full-time investment partner. The "Jays" also are partnering with Sherpa Capital, although this won't be a Sherpa-branded effort, and existing Sherpa staff won't be leading investments.
Expect the focus to be on seed-stage tech opportunities, with this really being the institutionalization of Jay Z and Jay Brown's previous angel investing activities. For example, they both were in Uber's Series B, at a $300m pre-money. Other investments have included JetSmarter, plus his involvement and stake in music streaming service Tidal.

Everyone is taking their talents over to Roc Nation. First Yo Gotti, The Lox, Fat Joe and now Jim Jones is calling Roc Nation home after signing a management deal. It was rather surprising due to the rocky history of Jim and Jay. Which was always made public by Jimmy. However we live and learn. With Jim being about his paper he had this to say about his recent business move:
"As you get older you realize that most of your peers are either dead or in jail,”
Jones said in a quote provided to Billboard.
"The fact that we can move past the BS is a testimony [to] how much we have grown."

It's a done deal... Jim Jones/Roc Nation. #rocnation #vamplife

NEW YORK (AP) — Jay Z, one of contemporary music's most celebrated lyricists and entertainers, is one of the nominees for the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame, and if inducted he would become the first rapper to enter the prestigious music organization.
Jay Z is the first rapper to be nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
The Songwriters Hall gave The Associated Press the list of nominees Thursday, a day ahead of its official announcement. Other nominees that could be inducted next year are George Michael, Madonna, Bryan Adams, Vince Gill, Babyface, Max Martin, Kool & the Gang and more.
Eligible members can vote for three non-performing songwriters and two performing songwriters until Dec. 16. Five songwriters, or songwriting groups, will be officially inducted at a gala in New York on June 15, 2017.
Other performing nominees include Cat Stevens, Sly Stone, Chicago, Gloria Estefan, Jeff Lynne and David Gates. Non-performing nominees are Kenny Nolan, Randy Goodrum, Tony Macaulay, William "Mickey" Stevenson, Allee Willis, Maury Yeston, Paul Overstreet and the songwriting duos Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, and Steve Barri and the late P.F. Sloan, who died last year.
Songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for at least 20 years. Jay Z, who released his debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," in 1996, has launched multiple hits in the last two decades, from "Big Pimpin'" to "Empire State of Mind."
