[HOT Trend Alert] The Chic Wedge Sneaker!!

I’m not normally a sneaker girl. Outside of the Sauconys I bought to run in (well walk/run) I don’t own any.  I’m sure that it goes without saying that when Marc By Marc Jacobs and Isabel Marant showed sneakers in their spring 2012 collections I didn’t initially pay very much attention.  I now stand before you a changed woman (queue “Around the Way Girl” by LL)!  The re-emergence of the wedge sneaker has (especially the high-top versions) is absolutely urban chic incarnate.  Unfortunately – The record scratches and you should abruptly stop rapping LL in your head – I was briefly reminded of the Manolo Blahnik Timberlands trend from 2010.  Just so we’re clear this is NOT that!  These sneaks are actually comfortable, have versatility, a vast price range and in my opinion staying power.   I fully expect to purchase a pair (or several pairs) and to be able to break them out years from now.  Can you imagine if you had forked up a G for the limited addition Manolos.  Yes, I’m chuckling because I can’t imagine anyone rocking those today.  Anywho I apologize for the digression.  The point is that these sneaks aren’t just trendy although they are popping up everywhere.  Bey rocked a pair of black Isabel Marant Bekket high-top suede sneaks on her “Love On Top” vid (as well as out & about with baby Blue) while supermodel Joan Smalls has been seen rocking a blue and white pair.   I’m sure you remember that I reported seeing Ciara in some bejewled Giuseppe Zanotti hi-top wedges as she attended a Raptor vs Knicks game.  Well, I also spotted Brandy in a pair earlier last month during her promotional tour with Monica.  What are your thoughts on this comfy chic Spring trend?
